Deuteronomy 17:15
ಹೇಗಾ ದರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಆದುಕೊಳ್ಳು ವವನನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು; ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅರಸನ ನ್ನಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು; ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಲ್ಲದ ಅನ್ಯನಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು.

ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ನಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವನು. ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವನು, ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತಂದೆ ಯಾಗಿರುವೆನು; ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಯುಗ ಯುಗಾಂತರಕ್ಕೂ ಸ್ಥಿರಪಡಿಸುವೆನು.

ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿರಿ; ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಇವನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದವನು ಯಾವನೂ ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ ಅಂದನು. ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆರ್ಭಟಿಸಿ--ಅರಸನಾದವನು ಬಾಳಲಿ ಅಂದರು.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಲನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ನಡಿಸುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಳಗೆ ತರುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಿ. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಜನರಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುವಿ; ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿರುವಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು ಅಂದರು.

ಆಗ ಇಷಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೇಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಕೆಂಪಾದ ಮೈಬಣ್ಣದವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಸುಂದರ ಮುಖವುಳ್ಳವ ನಾಗಿಯೂ ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಚೆಲುವಿಕೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಇವನನ್ನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸು; ಇವನೇ ಅವನು ಅಂದನು.
