2 Samuel 17:8
ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು; ಅವರು ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಂಡ ಕರಡಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ರೋಷ ವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ನೀನು ಬಲ್ಲೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಶೂರನು; ಅವನು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ತಂಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಕಬ್ಜಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾದಾ ವನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಅನೇಕ ಶೂರ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಸಿಂಹದಹಾಗಿರುವ ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿಮಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಣಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಒಂದು ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮೂವ ರೊಳಗೆ ಹೆಸರುಗೊಂಡನು.

ಆಗ ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿ ಯರ ದಂಡನ್ನು ಭೇದಿಸಿ ಹೊರಟು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸೇದಿ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಲ್ಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೊಯಿ ದನು.

ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳ ಹೆಸರು ಗಳು ಇವೇ; ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯನಾಗಿ ಆಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತವನಾದ ತಹ್ಕೆಮೋನ್ಯನು; ಇವನೇ ಎಚ್ನಿಯನಾದ ಅದೀನೊ. ಇವನು ಎಂಟು ನೂರು ಜನರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಸಾರಿ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು.

ತರುವಾಯ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಗೋಬಿ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಹುಷಾತನಾದ ಸಿಬ್ಬೆಕೈನು ಮಹಾಶರೀರದವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಫ್‌ ಎಂಬವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು.
