ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳೂ ಇವುಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯೂ ಆದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅಶ್ಶೂರಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದು ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ಕೋಟೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ತನಗಾಗಿ ಜಯಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.

ಆದರೆ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಪೂಲನು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದನು. ಆಗ ಮೆನಹೇಮನು ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧೃಢಪಡಿಸಲು ಅವನ ಕೈ ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಪೂಲನಿಗೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ತಲಾಂತು ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
