ಆದರೆ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ತಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಸಿದ ಜನರ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನ್ನು ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರಸನು ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೂ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಕಾಮ್ನಿಗೂ ವಿಾಕಾ ಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಕ್ಬೋರ್ನಿಗೂ ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶಾಫಾನನಿಗೂ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಅಸಾಯನಿಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--

ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೇ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ ಸಂತಾನದವನಾದ ಎಲೀಷಾಮನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇ ಲನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಬಂದು ಗೆದಲ್ಯ ನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಿಚ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಕಸ್ದೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.

ಯೆರೆವಿಾಯನು ಇನ್ನು ಹಿಂತಿ ರುಗದೆ ಇರುವಾಗ ನೆಬೂಜರದಾನನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೋ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಜನರೊಳಗೆ ವಾಸ ಮಾಡು; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೋ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಕಾವಲಿನವರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
ಯೆರೆಮಿಯ 41:2
ಆಗ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಶಾಫಾನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ದರು.
