1 Samuel 18:13
ಆದದರಿಂದ ಸೌಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ ಬರುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು.

ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರೂ ದಾವೀದನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ ಬರುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನು-- ದಾವೀದ ನನ್ನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬೀಳಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನೆನಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ಅರಸನು ಯಾವ ತೆರವನ್ನೂ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ತನ್ನ ಶತ್ರು ಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮುಂದೊಗಲನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸು ತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ--ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ಕೇಳಿರಿ; ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಒಳಸಂಚು ನಡಿಸು ವಂತೆ ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನು ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಹೊಲ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೇತೋಟಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವನೋ? ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಯಜಮಾನರಾಗಿಯೂ ನೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಯಜಮಾನರಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಡುವನೋ?
