ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು--ಆ ಮರದ ಫಲವು ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದಾಗಿಯೂ ಅದೆ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿ ಅದರ ಫಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂದಳು; ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು; ಅವನೂ ತಿಂದನು.

ಈ ವಿಷಯ ಹೇಗಂದರೆ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ನಿಂದಲೇ ಪಾಪವೂ ಪಾಪದಿಂದ ಮರಣವೂ ಲೋಕ ದೊಳಗೆ ಸೇರಿದವು; ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮರಣವು ಹೀಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿತು.
