ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಎದ್ದು ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರನ್ನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಫರೋಹನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಬಂಡಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನು ತಮಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಬಂಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅವರ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಉಜ್ಜೀ ವಿಸಿತು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ತೆಗೆದು ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವೆವು. ಒಂದು ಗೊರಸೆಯಾದರೂ ಬಿಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಆರಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವುಗಳಿಂದಲೇ ಆರಿಸ ಬೇಕು. ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬದು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವವರೆಗೂ ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

ಹೀಗೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದು ಹೋದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳೂ ಮೃತಿಹೊಂದಿದರು.
