1 ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದಾಸನೂ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಸೀಮೋನ ಪೇತ್ರನು ದೇವರ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ರಕ್ಷಕನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವರಿಗೆ--

2 ದೇವರ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಪೆಯೂ ಶಾಂತಿಯೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ದೊರೆಯಲಿ.

3 ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಗಾಗಿಯೂ ಗುಣಾತಿಶಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾತನ ವಿಷಯವಾದ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ಆತನ ದೈವಶಕ್ತಿಯು ಜೀವಕ್ಕೂ ಭಕ್ತಿಗೂ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿತು.

4 ನೀವು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದುರಾಶೆಯಿಂದುಂಟಾದ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನಕ್ಕೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ದೈವಸ್ವಭಾವದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವವರಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮಹತ್ವ ವುಳ್ಳ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ದಯ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

5 ಈಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ನೀವು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಿಂದ ನಿಮಗಿರುವ ನಂಬಿಕೆಗೆ ಸದ್ಗುಣವನ್ನೂ ಸದ್ಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ

6 ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ ದಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ದಮೆಗೆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ

7 ಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಹೋದರ ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸಹೋದರ ಕರುಣೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿರಿ.

8 ಇವು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಂಜೆಯರೂ ನಿಷ್ಪಲರೂ ಆಗದಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ.

9 ಇವುಗಳಿಲ್ಲದವನು ಕುರುಡನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಲ್ಲದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಹಿಂದಣ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಂದ ಶುದ್ಧನಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

10 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕರೆಯುವಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನೂ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಾಗಿರಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಹೋಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ

11 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನೂ ರಕ್ಷಕನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ನಿತ್ಯ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಧಾರಾಳವಾಗಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವದು.

12 ಆದದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದ ವರಾಗಿ ಈಗಿನ ಸತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ.

13 ಹೌದು, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ (ದೇಹವೆಂಬ) ಗುಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನಕ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಪಡಿಸಿ ಪ್ರೇರಿಸುವದು ಯುಕ್ತವೆಂದೆಣಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

14 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ನನಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಾನು ಈ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವದು ಬೇಗನೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆಂದು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು.

15 ಹೇಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಮರಣಾನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಪಡುವೆನು.

16 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಆತನ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಮತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅನುಸರಿ ಸುವವರಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತನ ಮಹತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ಕಂಡವ ರಾಗಿಯೇ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದೆವು.

17 ಈತನು ಪ್ರಿಯನಾಗಿ ರುವ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಈತನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂಬ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ಘನವಾದ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಿಂದ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನು ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಗೌರವವನ್ನೂ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದನಲ್ಲವೇ.

18 ನಾವು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಪರ್ವತದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಆ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ನಾವೇ ಕೇಳಿದೆವು.

19 ನಮಗೂ ಬಹು ದೃಢವಾದ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಇರುತ್ತದೆ; ಆ ದಿನವು ಬೆಳಗುವವರೆಗೆ ಉದಯ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡುವ ತನಕ ಅದನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಾದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುವ ದೀಪ ವೆಂದೆಣಿಸಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದು.

20 ಬರಹದ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯೂ ಕೇವಲ ಸ್ವಂತ ವಾಗಿ ವಿವರಿಸತಕ್ಕಂಥದ್ದಲ್ಲವೆಂಬದನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.

21 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧರಾದ ದೇವಜನರು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

1 ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದಾಸನೂ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಸೀಮೋನ ಪೇತ್ರನು ದೇವರ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ರಕ್ಷಕನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವರಿಗೆ--

2 ದೇವರ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಪೆಯೂ ಶಾಂತಿಯೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ದೊರೆಯಲಿ.

3 ತನ್ನ ಮಹಿಮೆಗಾಗಿಯೂ ಗುಣಾತಿಶಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾತನ ವಿಷಯವಾದ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ಆತನ ದೈವಶಕ್ತಿಯು ಜೀವಕ್ಕೂ ಭಕ್ತಿಗೂ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿತು.

4 ನೀವು ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದುರಾಶೆಯಿಂದುಂಟಾದ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನಕ್ಕೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ದೈವಸ್ವಭಾವದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವವರಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮಹತ್ವ ವುಳ್ಳ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ದಯ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

5 ಈಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ನೀವು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಿಂದ ನಿಮಗಿರುವ ನಂಬಿಕೆಗೆ ಸದ್ಗುಣವನ್ನೂ ಸದ್ಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ

6 ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ ದಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ದಮೆಗೆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ

7 ಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಹೋದರ ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸಹೋದರ ಕರುಣೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿರಿ.

8 ಇವು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಂಜೆಯರೂ ನಿಷ್ಪಲರೂ ಆಗದಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ.

9 ಇವುಗಳಿಲ್ಲದವನು ಕುರುಡನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಲ್ಲದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಹಿಂದಣ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಂದ ಶುದ್ಧನಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

10 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕರೆಯುವಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನೂ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಾಗಿರಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಹೋಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ

11 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನೂ ರಕ್ಷಕನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ನಿತ್ಯ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಧಾರಾಳವಾಗಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವದು.

12 ಆದದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದ ವರಾಗಿ ಈಗಿನ ಸತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ.

13 ಹೌದು, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ (ದೇಹವೆಂಬ) ಗುಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನಕ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಪಡಿಸಿ ಪ್ರೇರಿಸುವದು ಯುಕ್ತವೆಂದೆಣಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

14 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ನನಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಾನು ಈ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವದು ಬೇಗನೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆಂದು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು.

15 ಹೇಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಮರಣಾನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಪಡುವೆನು.

16 ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಆತನ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಮತ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅನುಸರಿ ಸುವವರಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತನ ಮಹತ್ತನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣಾರೆ ಕಂಡವ ರಾಗಿಯೇ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಿದೆವು.

17 ಈತನು ಪ್ರಿಯನಾಗಿ ರುವ ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಈತನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂಬ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ಘನವಾದ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಿಂದ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನು ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಗೌರವವನ್ನೂ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದನಲ್ಲವೇ.

18 ನಾವು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಪರ್ವತದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಆ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ನಾವೇ ಕೇಳಿದೆವು.

19 ನಮಗೂ ಬಹು ದೃಢವಾದ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಇರುತ್ತದೆ; ಆ ದಿನವು ಬೆಳಗುವವರೆಗೆ ಉದಯ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡುವ ತನಕ ಅದನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಾದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುವ ದೀಪ ವೆಂದೆಣಿಸಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಕೊಡುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದು.

20 ಬರಹದ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯೂ ಕೇವಲ ಸ್ವಂತ ವಾಗಿ ವಿವರಿಸತಕ್ಕಂಥದ್ದಲ್ಲವೆಂಬದನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.

21 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧರಾದ ದೇವಜನರು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
