சீகேமின் மனுஷர் மலைகளின் உச்சியில் அவனுக்குப் பதிவிருக்கிறவர்களை வைத்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் அருகே வழி நடந்து போகிற யாவரையும் கொள்ளையிட்டார்கள்; அது அபிமெலேக்குக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

சீகேமின் மனிதர்கள் மலைகளின் உச்சியில் அவனுக்கு ஒளிந்திருக்கிறவர்களை வைத்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் அருகே வழிநடந்துபோகிற எல்லோரையும் கொள்ளையிட்டார்கள்; அது அபிமெலேக்குக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

சீகேம் நகரின் தலைவர்களுக்கு அபிமெலேக்கின் மேல் இருந்த விருப்பம் குறைந்தது. மலையில் கடந்து சென்றவர்களையெல்லாம் தாக்கி அவர்களது பெருட்களைப் பறிக்கும்பொருட்டு அவர்கள் மலையின்மேல் ஆட்களை அமர்த்தினார்கள். இந்தத் தாக்குதலைக் குறித்து அபிமெலேக்கு அறிந்தான்.
