அபியேசரின் புத்திரரும், ஏலேக்கின் புத்திரரும், அஸ்ரியேலின் புத்திரரும், செகேமின் புத்திரரும், எப்பேரின் புத்திரரும், செமீதாவின் புத்திரருமான மனாசேயின் மற்றக்குமாரரின் புத்திரராகிய அபியேசரின் வம்சங்களுக்குத்தக்க சுதந்தரம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. தங்கள் வம்சங்களுக்குள்ளே அவர்களே யோசேப்புடைய குமாரனாகிய மனாசேயின் ஆண்பிள்ளைகளாயிருந்தார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர்: அல்ல, நான் கர்த்தருடைய சேனையின் அதிபதியாக இப்பொழுது வந்தேன் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது யோசுவா தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவரை நோக்கி: என் ஆண்டவர் தம்முடைய ஊழியனான எனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்று கேட்டான்.

அவர் அதற்கு பதிலாக, “நான் உன் பகைவன் அல்ல. கர்த்தருடைய படையின் சேனாதிபதி நான். நான் உன்னிடம் இப்போதுதான் வந்திருக்கிறேன்” என்றார். உடனே யோசுவா தன் மரியாதையை வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்கு தரையில் விழுந்து வணங்கினான். அவன், “நான் உமது ஊழியன். எனது எஜமானராகிய நீர் ஏதேனும் எனக்குக் கட்டளை வைத்திருக்கிறீரா?” என்று கேட்டான்.

அவரோ, “இல்லை, நான் ஆண்டவரின் படைத்தலைவன் என்ற முறையில் இப்பொழுது வந்துள்ளேன்” என்றார். யோசுவா முகம் தரையில்பட வீழ்ந்து வணங்கி அவரிடம், “என் ஆண்டவர் தம் அடியானுக்கு என்ன கூறியுள்ளார்?” என்று கேட்டார்.
