सिदकिय्याह राजा ने यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता को यहोवा के भवन के तीसरे द्वार में अपने पास बुलवा भेजा। और राजा ने यिर्मयाह से कहा, मैं तुझ से एक बात पुछता हूँ; मुझ से कुछ न छिपा।

उसके बहुत दिन बीतने पर सिदकिय्याह राजा ने उसको बुलवा भेजा, और अपने भवन में उस से छिप कर यह प्रश्न किया, क्या यहोवा की ओर से कोई वचन पइुंचा है? यिर्मयाह ने कहा, हां, पहुंचा है। वह यह है, कि तू बाबुल के राजा के वश में कर दिया जाएगा।
Jeremiah 42:2
हमारी बिनती ग्रहण कर के अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से हम सब बचे हुओं के लिये प्रार्थना कर, क्योंकि तू अपनी आंखों से देख रहा है कि हम जो पहले बहुत थे, अब थोड़े ही बच गए हैं।

क्योंकि जब तुम ने मुझ को यह कह कर अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के पास भेज दिया कि हमारे निमित्त हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना कर और जो कुछ हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा कहे उसी के अनुसार हम को बता और हम वैसा ही करेंगे, तब तुम जान बूझ के अपने ही को धोखा देते थे।
