Genesis 41
1 पूरे दो बरस के बीतने पर फिरौन ने यह स्वप्न देखा, कि वह नील नदी के किनारे पर खड़ा है।
2 और उस नदी में से सात सुन्दर और मोटी मोटी गायें निकल कर कछार की घास चरने लगीं।
3 और, क्या देखा, कि उनके पीछे और सात गायें, जो कुरूप और दुर्बल हैं, नदी से निकली; और दूसरी गायों के निकट नदी के तट पर जा खड़ी हुई।
4 तब ये कुरूप और दुर्बल गायें उन सात सुन्दर और मोटी मोटी गायों को खा गईं। तब फिरौन जाग उठा।
5 और वह फिर सो गया और दूसरा स्वप्न देखा, कि एक डंठी में से सात मोटी और अच्छी अच्छी बालें निकलीं।
6 और, क्या देखा, कि उनके पीछे सात बालें पतली और पुरवाई से मुरझाई हुई निकलीं।
7 और इन पतली बालों ने उन सातों मोटी और अन्न से भरी हुई बालों को निगल लिया। तब फिरौन जागा, और उसे मालूम हुआ कि यह स्वप्न ही था।
8 भोर को फिरौन का मन व्याकुल हुआ; और उसने मिस्र के सब ज्योतिषियों, और पण्डितों को बुलवा भेजा; और उन को अपने स्वप्न बताएं; पर उन में से कोई भी उनका फल फिरौन से न कह सहा।
9 तब पिलानेहारों का प्रधान फिरौन से बोल उठा, कि मेरे अपराध आज मुझे स्मरण आए:
10 जब फिरौन अपने दासों से क्रोधित हुआ था, और मुझे और पकानेहारों के प्रधान को कैद करा के जल्लादों के प्रधान के घर के बन्दीगृह में डाल दिया था;
11 तब हम दोनों ने, एक ही रात में, अपने अपने होनहार के अनुसार स्वप्न देखा;
12 और वहां हमारे साथ एक इब्री जवान था, जो जल्लादों के प्रधान का दास था; सो हम ने उसको बताया, और उसने हमारे स्वप्नों का फल हम से कहा, हम में से एक एक के स्वप्न का फल उसने बता दिया।
13 और जैसा जैसा फल उसने हम से कहा था, वैसा ही हुआ भी, अर्थात मुझ को तो मेरा पद फिर मिला, पर वह फांसी पर लटकाया गया।
14 तब फिरौन ने यूसुफ को बुलवा भेजा। और वह झटपट बन्दीगृह से बाहर निकाला गया, और बाल बनवाकर, और वस्त्र बदलकर फिरौन के साम्हने आया।
15 फिरौन ने यूसुफ से कहा, मैं ने एक स्वप्न देखा है, और उसके फल का बताने वाला कोई भी नहीं; और मैं ने तेरे विषय में सुना है, कि तू स्वप्न सुनते ही उसका फल बता सकता है।
16 यूसुफ ने फिरौन से कहा, मैं तो कुछ नहीं जानता: परमेश्वर ही फिरौन के लिये शुभ वचन देगा।
17 फिर फिरौन यूसुफ से कहने लगा, मैं ने अपने स्वप्न में देखा, कि मैं नील नदी के किनारे पर खड़ा हूं
18 फिर, क्या देखा, कि नदी में से सात मोटी और सुन्दर सुन्दर गायें निकल कर कछार की घास चरने लगी।
19 फिर, क्या देखा, कि उनके पीछे सात और गायें निकली, जो दुबली, और बहुत कुरूप, और दुर्बल हैं; मैं ने तो सारे मिस्र देश में ऐसी कुडौल गायें कभी नहीं देखीं।
20 और इन दुर्बल और कुडौल गायों ने उन पहली सातों मोटी मोटी गायों को खा लिया।
21 और जब वे उन को खा गई तब यह मालूम नहीं होता था कि वे उन को खा गई हैं, क्योंकि वे पहिले की नाईं जैसी की तैसी कुडौल रहीं। तब मैं जाग उठा।
22 फिर मैं ने दूसरा स्वप्न देखा, कि एक ही डंठी में सात अच्छी अच्छी और अन्न से भरी हुई बालें निकलीं।
23 फिर, क्या देखता हूं, कि उनके पीछे और सात बालें छूछी छूछी और पतली और पुरवाई से मुरझाई हुई निकलीं।
24 और इन पतली बालोंने उन सात अच्छी अच्छी बालों को निगल लिया। इसे मैं ने ज्योतिषियों को बताया, पर इस का समझानेहारा कोई नहीं मिला।
25 तब यूसुफ ने फिरौन से कहा, फिरौन का स्वप्न एक ही है, परमेश्वर जो काम किया चाहता है, उसको उसने फिरौन को जताया है।
26 वे सात अच्छी अच्छी गायें सात वर्ष हैं; और वे सात अच्छी अच्छी बालें भी सात वर्ष हैं; स्वप्न एक ही है।
27 फिर उनके पीछे जो दुर्बल और कुडौल गायें निकलीं, और जो सात छूछी और पुरवाई से मुरझाई हुई बालें निकाली, वे अकाल के सात वर्ष होंगे।
28 यह वही बात है, जो मैं फिरौन से कह चुका हूं, कि परमेश्वर जो काम किया चाहता है, उसे उसने फिरौन को दिखाया है।
29 सुन, सारे मिस्र देश में सात वर्ष तो बहुतायत की उपज के होंगे।
30 उनके पश्चात सात वर्ष अकाल के आयेंगे, और सारे मिस्र देश में लोग इस सारी उपज को भूल जायेंगे; और अकाल से देश का नाश होगा।
31 और सुकाल (बहुतायत की उपज) देश में फिर स्मरण न रहेगा क्योंकि अकाल अत्यन्त भयंकर होगा।
32 और फिरौन ने जो यह स्वप्न दो बार देखा है इसका भेद यही है, कि यह बात परमेश्वर की ओर से नियुक्त हो चुकी है, और परमेश्वर इसे शीघ्र ही पूरा करेगा।
33 इसलिये अब फिरौन किसी समझदार और बुद्धिमान् पुरूष को ढूंढ़ करके उसे मिस्र देश पर प्रधानमंत्री ठहराए।
34 फिरौन यह करे, कि देश पर अधिकारियों को नियुक्त करे, और जब तक सुकाल के सात वर्ष रहें तब तक वह मिस्र देश की उपज का पंचमांश लिया करे।
35 और वे इन अच्छे वर्षों में सब प्रकार की भोजन वस्तु इकट्ठा करें, और नगर नगर में भण्डार घर भोजन के लिये फिरौन के वश में करके उसकी रक्षा करें।
36 और वह भोजनवस्तु अकाल के उन सात वर्षों के लिये, जो मिस्र देश में आएंगे, देश के भोजन के निमित्त रखी रहे, जिस से देश उस अकाल से स्त्यानाश न हो जाए।
37 यह बात फिरौन और उसके सारे कर्मचारियों को अच्छी लगी।
38 सो फिरौन ने अपने कर्मचारियोंसे कहा, कि क्या हम को ऐसा पुरूष जैसा यह है, जिस में परमेश्वर का आत्मा रहता है, मिल सकता है?
39 फिर फिरौन ने यूसुफ से कहा, परमेश्वर ने जो तुझे इतना ज्ञान दिया है, कि तेरे तुल्य कोई समझदार और बुद्धिमान् नहीं;
40 इस कारण तू मेरे घर का अधिकारी होगा, और तेरी आज्ञा के अनुसार मेरी सारी प्रजा चलेगी, केवल राजगद्दी के विषय मैं तुझ से बड़ा ठहरूंगा।
41 फिर फिरौन ने यूसुफ से कहा, सुन, मैं तुझ को मिस्र के सारे देश के ऊपर अधिकारी ठहरा देता हूं
42 तब फिरौन ने अपने हाथ से अंगूठी निकाल के यूसुफ के हाथ में पहिना दी; और उसको बढिय़ा मलमल के वस्त्र पहिनवा दिए, और उसके गले में सोने की जंजीर डाल दी;
43 और उसको अपने दूसरे रथ पर चढ़वाया; और लोग उसके आगे आगे यह प्रचार करते चले, कि घुटने टेककर दण्डवत करो और उसने उसको मिस्र के सारे देश के ऊपर प्रधान मंत्री ठहराया।
44 फिर फिरौन ने यूसुफ से कहा, फिरौन तो मैं हूं, और सारे मिस्र देश में कोई भी तेरी आज्ञा के बिना हाथ पांव न हिलाएगा।
45 और फिरौन ने यूसुफ का नाम सापन त्पानेह रखा। और ओन नगर के याजक पोतीपेरा की बेटी आसनत से उसका ब्याह करा दिया। और यूसुफ मिस्र के सारे देश में दौरा करने लगा।
46 जब यूसुफ मिस्र के राजा फिरौन के सम्मुख खड़ा हुआ, तब वह तीस वर्ष का था। सो वह फिरौन के सम्मुख से निकलकर मिस्र के सारे देश में दौरा करने लगा।
47 सुकाल के सातों वर्षोंमें भूमि बहुतायत से अन्न उपजाती रही।
48 और यूसुफ उन सातों वर्षों में सब प्रकार की भोजनवस्तुएं, जो मिस्र देश में होती थीं, जमा करके नगरों में रखता गया, और हर एक नगर के चारों ओर के खेतों की भोजनवस्तुओं को वह उसी नगर में इकट्ठा करता गया।
49 सो यूसुफ ने अन्न को समुद्र की बालू के समान अत्यन्त बहुतायत से राशि राशि करके रखा, यहां तक कि उसने उनका गिनना छोड़ दिया; क्योंकि वे असंख्य हो गईं।
50 अकाल के प्रथम वर्ष के आने से पहिले यूसुफ के दो पुत्र, ओन के याजक पोतीपेरा की बेटी आसनत से जन्मे।
51 और यूसुफ ने अपने जेठे का नाम यह कहके मनश्शे रखा, कि परमेश्वर ने मुझ से सारा क्लेश, और मेरे पिता का सारा घराना भुला दिया है।
52 और दूसरे का नाम उसने यह कहकर एप्रैम रखा, कि मुझे दु:ख भोगने के देश में परमेश्वर ने फुलाया फलाया है।
53 और मिस्र देश के सुकाल के वे सात वर्ष समाप्त हो गए।
54 और यूसुफ के कहने के अनुसार सात वर्षों के लिये अकाल आरम्भ हो गया। और सब देशों में अकाल पड़ने लगा; परन्तु सारे मिस्र देश में अन्न था।
55 जब मिस्र का सारा देश भूखों मरने लगा; तब प्रजा फिरोन से चिल्ला चिल्लाकर रोटी मांगने लगी: और वह सब मिस्रियों से कहा करता था, यूसुफ के पास जाओ: और जो कुछ वह तुम से कहे, वही करो।
56 सो जब अकाल सारी पृथ्वी पर फैल गया, और मिस्र देश में काल का भयंकर रूप हो गया, तब यूसुफ सब भण्डारों को खोल खोल के मिस्रियों के हाथ अन्न बेचने लगा।
57 सो सारी पृथ्वी के लोग मिस्र में अन्न मोल लेने के लिये यूसुफ के पास आने लगे, क्योंकि सारी पृथ्वी पर भयंकर अकाल था।
1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.
3 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.
4 And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.
5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
9 Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:
10 Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the chief baker:
11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:
18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:
19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
20 And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:
21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:
23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:
24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
26 The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.
27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
45 And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
47 And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.
49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.
50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.
51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.
52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.
56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

1 ਅਸਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਣੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਆਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਦਾ ਕਰੋਧ ਠੰਡਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ। ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵਸ਼ਤੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵਸ਼ਤੀ ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਤਵਿਆ।
After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
2 ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਲਈ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:
3 ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਆਗੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਵਿਆਹੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਉਣ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਖੁਸਰੇ ਹੇਗਈ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਰੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਗੀਆਂ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਲਈ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king’s chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:
4 ਫਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਂਜਕ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਸ਼ਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਵੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਬਾਪਿਆਂ ਜਾਵੇ।” ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮਸ਼ਵਰਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਤ੍ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ।
And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.
5 ਹੁਣ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਯਾਈਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਸ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।
Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.
7 ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਚਾਚੇ ਦੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂਉ ਹਦੱਸਾਹ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਅਨਾਬ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ ਭਾਲ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ ਬਾਪ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਹਦੱਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਂਉ ਅਸਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਸਤਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਬੜੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ-ਸੁਨੱਥੀ ਸੀ।
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
8 ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਗਈ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ ਰੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਅੱਸਤਰ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਜਾਕੇ ਹੇਗਈ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ ਰੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਹੇਗਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਸੀ।
So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
9 ਹੇਗਈ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਤਰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਚਹੇਤੀ ਬਣੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੇਗਈ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਵੱਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਖਾਸ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਹੇਗਈ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਲਈ ਸੱਤ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਚੁਣੀਆਂ। ਫਿਰ ਹੇਗਈ ਨੇ ਅਸਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਤ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ।
And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
10 ਅਸਤਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਣ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਕੜ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣੋ ਮਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
11 ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਸਤਰ ਦੀ ਸੁੱਖ ਸਾਂਦ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
12 ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਨਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸੀ: ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਮੁਰ ਦੇ ਤੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖਰੇ ਅਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਟਣਿਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਪਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)
13 ਇਉਂ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇੱਕ ਕੁੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਚੋ ਮੁਹਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ। ਜਿਸਦੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
14 ਸ਼ਾਮ ਵੇਲੇ, ਕੁੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਕੁੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਖੁਸਰੇ ਸੁਅਸ਼ਗਜ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਰੀਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੀ। ਤਦ ਉਹ ਕੁੜੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੁੜ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਨਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲੀਁ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ।
In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
15 ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਗ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ (ਅਸਤਰ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਦੇ ਚਾਚੇ ਅਬੀਹਯਿਲ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਦ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ।) ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹੇਗਈ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਲਈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਜਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਸੀ, ਕਿ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਲੈਣਾ ਠੀਕ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੀ ਅਸਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ।
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
16 ਇਉਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਟੇਬੇਬ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲੀਁ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ।
So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲਗੀ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਨਪਸੰਦ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਤਾਜ ਪੁਆ ਕੇ ਵਸ਼ਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
18 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਸਤਰ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਾਅਵਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖਾਸ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਲਈ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੋਂਹਫੇ ਵੰਡੇ।
Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.
19 ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੂੰ ਭੈੜੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਣਾ ਜਦ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਫਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ।
And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
20 ਅਸਤਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਅਜੇ ਤਾਈਂ ਗੁਪਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਕੜ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੂੰ ਓਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਮਂਨਦੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਦੀ ਦੇਖ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
21 ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਪਾਤਾਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਕੋਲ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਖੁਸਰਿਆਂ ਬਿਗਬਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਸ਼ ਨੇ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋਕੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।
In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
22 ਪਰ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਨੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਚੱਲ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਅਸਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਤਾਂ ਅਸਤਰ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਕੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਜਾਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਬੁਰੀ ਖਬਰ ਦੀ ਸੂਹ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.
23 ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਬਦ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਸੱਚ ਨਿਕਲੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਦ੍ਰੱਖਤ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਾਂਸੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਏ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਵਾਪਰੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
