Amos 2
1 यहोवा यों कहता है, मोआब के तीन क्या, वरन चार अपराधों के कारण, मैं उसका दण्ड न छोडूंगा; क्योंकि उसने एदोम के राजा की हड्डियों को जला कर चूना कर दिया।
2 इसलिये मैं मोआब में आग लगाऊंगा, और उस से करिय्योत के भवन भस्म हो जाएंगे; और मोआब हुल्लड़ और ललकार, और नरसिंगे के शब्द होते-होते मर जाएगा।
3 मैं उसके बीच में से न्यायी को नाश करूंगा, और साथ ही साथ उसके सब हाकिमों को भी घात करूंगा, यहोवा का यही वचन है॥
4 यहोवा यों कहता है, यहूदा के तीन क्या, वरन चार अपराधों के कारण, मैं उसका दण्ड न छोडूंगा; क्योंकि उनहोंने यहोवा की व्यवस्था को तुच्छ जाना और मेरी विधियों को नहीं माना; और अपने झूठे देवताओं के कारण जिनके पीछे उनके पुरखा चलते थे, वे भी भटक गए हैं।
5 इसलिये मैं यहूदा में आग लगाऊंगा, और उस से यरूशलेम के भवन भस्म हो जाएंगे॥
6 यहोवा यों कहता है, इस्राएल के तीन क्या, वरन चार अपराधों के कारण, मैं उसका दण्ड न छोडूंगा; क्योंकि उन्होंने निर्दोष को रूपये के लिये और दरिद्र को एक जोड़ी जूतियों के लिये बेच डाला है।
7 वे कंगालों के सिर पर की धूलि का भी लालच करते, और नम्र लोगों को मार्ग से हटा देते हैं; और बाप-बेटा दोनों एक ही कुमारी के पास जाते हैं, जिस से मेरे पवित्र नाम को अपवित्र ठहराएं।
8 वे हर एक वेदी के पास बन्धक के वस्त्रों पर सोते हैं, और दण्ड के रूपये से मोल लिया हुआ दाखमधु अपने देवता के घर में पी लेते हैं॥
9 मैं ने उनके साम्हने से एमोरियों को नाश किया था, जिनकी लम्बाई देवदारों की सी, और जिनका बल बांज वृक्षों का सा था; तौभी मैं ने ऊपर से उसके फल, और नीचे से उसकी जड़ नाश की।
10 और मैं तुम को मिस्र देश से निकाल लाया, और जंगल में चालीस वर्ष तक लिए फिरता रहा, कि तुम एमोरियों के देश के अधिकारी हो जाओ।
11 और मैं ने तुम्हारे पुत्रों में से नबी होने के लिये और तुम्हारे कुछ जवानों में से नाजीर होने के लिये ठहराया। हे इस्राएलियो, क्या यह सब सच नहीं है? यहोवा की यही वाणी है।
12 परन्तु तुम ने नाजीरों को दाखमधु पिलाया, और नबियों को आज्ञा दी कि भविष्यद्ववाणी न करें॥
13 देखो, मैं तुम को ऐसा दबाऊंगा, जैसी पूलों से भरी हुई गाड़ी नीचे को दबाई जाती है।
14 इसलिये वेग दौड़ने वाले को भाग जाने का स्थान न मिलेगा, और सामर्थी का सामर्थ कुछ काम न देगा; और न पराक्रमी अपना प्राण बचा सकेगा;
15 धनुर्धारी खड़ा न रह सकेगा, और फुर्ती से दौड़ने वाला न बचेगा; सवार भी अपना प्राण न बचा सकेगा;
16 और शूरवीरों में जो अधिक वीर हो, वह भी उस दिन नंगा हो कर भाग जाएगा, यहोवा की यही वाणी है॥
1 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the Lord.
4 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:
8 And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord.
12 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:
15 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.
16 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.

1 என் சுவாசம் ஒழிகிறது; என் நாட்கள் முடிகிறது; பிரேதக்குழி எனக்கு ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறது.
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறவர்கள் என்னிடத்தில் இல்லையோ? அவர்கள் செய்யும் அநியாயங்களை என் கண் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3 தேவரீர் என் காரியத்தை மேல்போட்டுக்கொண்டு, எனக்காகப் பிணைப்படுவீராக; வேறே யார் எனக்குக் கைகொடுக்கத்தக்கவர்?
Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4 நீர் அவர்கள் இருதயத்துக்கு ஞானத்தை மறைத்தீர்; ஆகையால் அவர்களை உயர்த்தாதிருப்பீர்.
For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
5 எவன் தன் சிநேகிதருக்குக் கேடாகத் துரோகம் பேசுகிறானோ, அவன் பிள்ளைகளின் கண்களும் பூத்துப்போகும்.
He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6 ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே அவர் என்னைப் பழமொழியாக வைத்தார்; அவர்கள் முகத்துக்குமுன் நான் அருவருப்பானேன்.
He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
7 இதினிமித்தம் என் கண்கள் சஞ்சலத்தினால் இருளடைந்தது; என் அவயவங்களெல்லாம் நிழலைப்போலிருக்கிறது.
Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8 சன்மார்க்கர் இதற்காகப் பிரமிப்பார்கள்; குற்றமில்லாதவன் மாயக்காரனுக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்புவான்.
Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9 நீதிமான் தன் வழியை உறுதியாய்ப் பிடிப்பான்; சுத்தமான கைகளுள்ளவன் மேன்மேலும் பலத்துப்போவான்.
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10 இப்போதும் நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் போய்வாருங்கள்; உங்களில் ஞானமுள்ள ஒருவனையும் காணேன்.
But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
11 என் நாட்கள் போயிற்று, என் இருதயத்தில் எனக்கு உண்டாயிருந்த சிந்தனைகள் அற்றுப்போயிற்று.
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12 அவைகள் இரவைப் பகலாக்கிற்று; இருளை வெளிச்சம் தொடர்ந்துவரும் என்று எண்ணச்செய்தது.
They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13 அப்படி நான் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தாலும், பாதாளம் எனக்கு வீடாயிருக்கும்; இருளில் என் படுக்கையைப் போடுவேன்.
If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
14 அழிவைப்பார்த்து, நீ எனக்குத் தகப்பன் என்கிறேன்; புழுக்களைப்பார்த்து, நீங்கள் எனக்குத் தாயும் எனக்குச் சகோதரியும் என்கிறேன்.
I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15 என் நம்பிக்கை இப்போது எங்கே? நான் நம்பியிருந்ததைக் காண்பவன் யார்?
And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16 அது பாதாளத்தின் காலுக்குள் இறங்கும்; அப்போது தூளில் ஏகமாய் இளைப்பாறுவோம் என்றான்.
They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
