જ્યારે અહીં યરૂશાલેમમાં ઈસુની વિરૂદ્ધ હેરોદ, પોંતિયુસ પિલાત, રાષ્ટ્રો અને બધા યહૂદિ લોકો આવીને ભેગા મળ્યા ત્યારે ખરેખર આ બાબતો બની. ઈસુ તારો પવિત્ર સેવક છે. તે એક છે જેને તેં ખ્રિસ્ત બનાવ્યો છે.

જે કંઈ બનતું હતું તે બધી બાબતો વિષે શાસનકર્તા હેરોદે સાંભળ્યું. તે મૂંઝવણમાં પડ્યો કારણ કે કેટલાએક લોકોએ કહ્યું, “યોહાન મૂએલામાંથી ઊઠ્યો છે.”

યોહાને રાજા હેરોદની તેના ભાઈની પત્નિ સાથેના તેના સંબંધ માટે ટીકા કરી. તથા તેના બીજા ખરાબ કાર્યો માટે યોહાને તેની ટીકા કરી.

આ સમય દરમ્યાન કૈસર ઓગસ્તસે હુકમનામું બહાર પાડ્યું કે જે દેશો રોમન શાસન હેઠળ છે તે સમગ્ર રાજ્યની વસતી ગણતરી કરવામાં આવે. એ હુકમનામા અનુસાર બધાજ લોકોએ પોતપોતાના નામ રજિસ્ટરમાં નોધાવવાનાં હતા.

આ સમયે ગાલીલના રાજ્યકર્તા હેરોદ, ઈસુ વિષે સાંભળ્યું.

રાજા અગ્રીપા, હાકેમ ફેસ્તુસ, બરનિકા, અને તેઓની સાથે બેઠેલા બધા લોકો ઊભા થઈ ગયા.

પણ બે વરસ પછી પોર્કિયુસ ફેસ્તુસ હાકેમ બન્યો. તેથી ફેલિકસ લાંબો સમય હાકેમ ન રહ્યો. પરંતુ ફેલિક્સે પાઉલને બંદીખાનામાં નાખ્યો કારણ કે ફેલિકસ યહૂદિઓને ખુશ કરવા કંઈક કરવા ઇચ્છતો હતો.

પછી આખો સમૂહ ઊભો થયો અને પિલાત પાસે ઈસુને લઈ ગયો. તેઓ ઈસુની વિરૂદ્ધ તહોમત મૂકવા લાગ્યા.

હેરોદે પોતે તેના સૈનિકોને યોહાનને પકડવાનો હુકમ કર્યો હતો. તેથી યોહાન બંદીખાનામાં કેદ થયો હતો. હેરોદે તેની પત્નીને ખુશ કરવા આમ કર્યુ હતું. હેરોદિયા હેરોદના ભાઈ ફિલિપની પત્ની હતી. પરંતુ પાછળથી હેરોદ હેરોદિયાને પરણયો.
માથ્થી 14:3
હેરોદે આ પહેલા યોહાનને કેદ કર્યો હતો અને તેને સાંકળો વડે બાંધી જેલમાં પૂરી દીધો હતો. હેરોદના ભાઈ ફિલિપની પત્ની હરોદિયાને લીધે યોહાનની ધરપકડ થઈ હતી.
ઊત્પત્તિ 49:10
યહૂદા પરિવારના (પુરુષ) માંણસો રાજા થશે. તેના પરિવારનો રાજદંડ જ્યાંં સુધી વાસ્તવિક રાજા ન આવે ત્યાં સુધી જશે નહિ. પછી અનેક લોકો તેનું પાલન કરશે અને તેની સેવા કરશે.
