યહોશુઆ 8:9
આમ કહીને યહોશુઆએ તેઓને મોકલી દીધા અને તેઓ ‘આય’ ની પાછળની બાજુએ બેથેલ અને આયની વચ્ચે સંતાઈ રહ્યા. પરંતુ યહોશુઆ અને બાકી રહેલું સૈન્ય યરીખોની છાવણીમાં રોકાયું.

આય કે બેથેલમાં એક પણ યોદ્ધો રહ્યો નહિ બધા જ ઇસ્રાએલીઓની પાછળ ગયા હતા અને નગરનું રક્ષણ કરનાર કોઈ રહ્યું ન હતું અને નગરના દરવાજા પણ ખુલ્લા હતા.
