તારા પાપો માફ થયા છે એમ કહેવું અથવા ચાલ ઊભો થા અને તારી પથારી લઈને ચાલતો થા. એ બેમાં કયું સરળ છે, તેનો વિચાર કરો. પરંતુ તમને ખાતરી થાય તે માટે હું સાબિત કરી બતાવીશ કે પૃથ્વી પર માણસના દીકરાને પાપમાંથી માફી આપવાનો અધિકાર છે.

માણસના દીકરાને પૃથ્વી પર પાપ માફ કરવાનો અધિકાર છે. પણ આ તમારી આગળ કેવી રીતે સાબિત કરી શકું? તમે એમ ધારતા હશો કે, ‘તારાં પાપ માફ થયાં છે.’ એમ કહેવું સહેલું છે, પણ ખરેખર એમ થયું તે કોઈ જોઈ શક્તું નથી.
