“‘મારું સ્થાન એક વખત ‘શીલોહમાં હતું ત્યાં જાઓ, જ્યાં મારું પ્રથમ નિવાસસ્થાન હતું. અને જોઇ આવો કે મારા લોકો ઇસ્રાએલીઓની દુષ્ટતાને કારણે મેં તેના શા હાલ કર્યા છે!

જયારે બાકીનાં સૈનિકો તેમની છાવણીમાં પાછા આવ્યા ત્યારે ઇસ્રાએલીઓના આગેવાનોએ પૂછયું, “યહોવાએ પલિસ્તીઓના હાથે આપણને કેમ હરાવ્યા? ચાલો, આપણે શીલોહ જઈને યહોવાના કરારકોશને લઈ આવીએ. આ રીતે દેવ આપણી વચ્ચે રહેશે અને આપણું દુશ્મનોથી રક્ષણ કરશે.”
1 શમુએલ 1:3
પ્રતિવર્ષ એલ્કાનાહ અને તેનું કુટુંબ સાથે સર્વસમર્થ દેવની ઉપાસના કરવા અને અર્પણો અર્પણ કરવા માંટે શીલોહ જતા હતા. ત્યાં એલીના બે પુત્રો હોફની અને ફીનહાસ યહોવાના યાજકો તરીકે સેવા આપતા હતા.
પુનર્નિયમ 12:11
તે સમયે તમાંરા દેવ યહોવા તેમની પોતાની સેવા માંટે એક જગ્યાની પસંદગી કરશે ત્યાં હું આજ્ઞા કરું છું તે બધું તમાંરે લાવવું; તમાંરી ઊપજનો દશમો ભાગ,યજ્ઞો તેમજ તમાંરાં બધાં દહનાર્પણ તથા અન્ય અર્પણો તે જ જગ્યાએ ચડાવવાં. બાધા તરીકે ચઢાવવાની ખાસ ભેટો તમાંરે સાથે લાવવી.
પુનર્નિયમ 12:5
યહોવા તમાંરા દેવ તમાંરા કુળસમૂહો વચ્ચે એક ખાસ જગ્યા પસંદ કરશે. યહોવા તેમનું નામ ત્યાં મૂકશે. તે તેમનું ખાસ ઘર રહેશે. તમાંરે તેની ભકિત કરવા તે જગ્યાએ જ જવાનું છે.
