તેમણે કડિયાઓને અને સુથારોને પૈસા આપ્યા અને સિદોન અને તૂરના લોકોને ખોરાક પાણી અને તેલ મોકલ્યાં, જેથી તેઓ લબાનોનથી સમુદ્રમાગેર્ યાફા સુધી દેવદારનું લાકડું લઇ આવે. ઇરાનના રાજા કોરેશે એ માટે પરવાનગી આપી હતી.

હેરોદ તૂરના તથા સિદોન શહેરોના લોકો પર ઘણો જ ગુસ્સે હતો. તે બધા લોકો સમૂહમાં હેરોદ પાસે આવ્યા. તેઓ તેઓના પક્ષમાં બ્લાસ્તસને લેવા શક્તિમાન હતા. બ્લાસ્તસ રાજાનો ખાનગી સેવક હતો. લોકોએ હેરોદને શાંતિ માટે પૂછયું, કારણ કે તેઓના દેશને ખોરાકના પૂરવઠા માટે હેરોદના પ્રદેશ પર આધાર રાખવો પડતો હતો.

યાફા શહેરમાં ટબીથા નામની ઈસુની શિષ્યા હતી. (તેનું ગ્રીક નામ, દોરકસ, અર્થાત “હરણ.”) તે હંમેશા લોકો માટે શુભ કાર્યો કરતી. જે લોકોને પૈસાની જરુંર હોય તે લોકોને તે હંમેશા પૈસા આપતી.
