લેવીના વંશજોના વીસ વર્ષ અને તેથી વધારે ઉંમરના પુરુષોની ગણતરી કરીને પર પ્રમાણે વિભાગો અને પેટાવિભાગોમાં તેઓનું વગીર્કરણ કરવામાં આવ્યું. યહોવાના મંદિરમાં જુદી જુદી સેવાઓ માટે તેઓને નિયુકત કરવામાં આવ્યાં.

એઝરા 3:8
બીજા વર્ષના બીજા મહિનામાં યરૂશાલેમમાં દેવના મંદિરમાં પહોચ્યા પછી, શઆલ્તીએલનો પુત્ર ઝરુબ્બાબેલે અને યોસાદાકનો પુત્ર યેશૂઆએ તેમના બીજા જાતભાઇઓની મદદ વડે, યાજકો લેવીઓ અને દેશવટેથી યરૂશાલેમ પાછા ફરેલા બાકીના બધા લોકોની મદદથી મંદિરનું ખરેખરું બાંધકામ શરૂ કર્યુ. તેમણે વીસ વર્ષના અને તેથી મોટા લેવીઓને યહોવાના મંદિરનાં બાંધકામની દેખરેખ રાખવા નીમ્યા.

મૃત્યુ પહેલા દાઉદે જે છેલ્લું કામ કર્યુ તે જે વીસ વરસ કે તેથી વધારે ઉમર વાળા હતા. લેવીના કુલસમૂહના વંશજોની ગણતરી કરી.
