તેમણે દબીરને, તેના રાજાને અને આજુબાજુનાં ગામોને કબજે કર્યો. અને તેમને મોતને ઘાટ ઊતારી દીધા, તેણે ત્યાંના બધાંજ માંણસોનો સંહાર કર્યો. યહોશુઆએ હેબ્રોન, લિબ્નાહ અને તેના રાજાઓના જે હાલ કર્યા હતા તે જ હાલ દબીરના અને ત્યાંના રાજાના કર્યા.

અને રાજાની સાથે, લોકો અને નજીકનાં શહેરોમાં રહેતાં બીજા લોકોને પણ માંરી નાખવામાં આવ્યાં હતાં. કોઈને પણ જીવતું છોડવામાં આવ્યું નહોતું. તેઓએ એગ્લોનને જેમ કર્યુ હતું તેમ કર્યું.

પછી યહોવાએ લાખીશ ઇસ્રાએલના હાથમાં સોંપી દીધું. બીજે દિવસે તેમણે તેનો કબજો લીધો અને લિબ્નાહમાં જે કર્યુ હતું તે જ ત્યાંના બધાં જ માંણસોનું કર્યુ. સૌને તરવારને ઘાટ ઉતાર્યા.

યહોવાએ એ પણ ઇસ્રાએલીઓના હાથમાં સોંપી દીધું. અને તેમણે ત્યાંના બધાંજ માંણસોને તરવારને ઘાટ ઊતાર્યા. કોઈને છોડયા નહિં. અને યરીખોના રાજાની જે હાલત કરી હતી તે જ હાલત ત્યાંના રાજાની કરી.

યહોશુઆએ તે દિવસે માંક્કેદાહ કબજે કર્યું. અને તેના લોકોને તથા રાજાને મોતને ઘાટ ઉતાર્યા. નગરના બધા માંણસોનો તેણે સંહાર કર્યો. તેણે યરીખોના રાજાના જે હાલ કર્યા હતા તે જ હાલ માંક્કેદાહના રાજાના પણ કર્યા.

તેઓએ પ્રત્યુત્તર આપ્યો, “અમે એવું એટલા માંટે કર્યું કે અમને ચોક્કસ ખબર મળી હતી કે તમાંરા દેવ યહોવાએ પોતાના સેવક મૂસાને આ આખો દેશ તમને આપવાની અને એના સર્વ રહેવાસીઓનો સંહાર કરવાની આજ્ઞા કરી હતી. આથી તમે જેમ જેમ અમાંરા તરફ આગળ વધ્યા તેમ તેમ અમને તમાંરો ખૂબ ભય લાગવા માંડયો કે તમે અમને માંરી નાખશો, તેથી અમે આમ કર્યું.

મૂસાએ તેના નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં જણાવ્યાં પ્રમાંણે બધા નિયમો પાળવામાં આવ્યા હતા. જે પથ્થરો વાપરવામાં આવેલા તે કપાયેલા ન હતા. લોખંડથી બનાવેલા કોઈ પણ ઓજારો તેની ઉપર વપરાયા ન હતા. આ પથ્થરને વાપરીને વેદી બનાવ્યા પછી, તેઓએ તેના ઉપર દેવને દહનાર્પણો અર્પિત કર્યા. તેઓએ શાંત્યર્પણો પણ અર્પણ કર્યા.

Joshua 8:8
“તમે વિજયી થશો અને પછી યહોવાની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાંણે શહેર બાળી મૂકજો. યાદ રાખો આ માંરો આદેશ છે.”
