Jeremiah 37:20
તેથી, મારા ધણી મારા રાજા, મહેરબાની કરીને મને સાંભળો, મારી નમ્ર વિનંતિ ધ્યાનમાં લો. મને પાછો મંત્રી યહોનાથાનને ઘેર ન મોકલશો, નહિ તો હું ત્યાં મરી જઇશ.”

આથી એ લોકોએ યમિર્યાને લઇ જઇને રક્ષકઘરના પ્રાંગણમાં આવેલા રાજકુમાર માલ્ખિયાના ધાતુંના ટાંકામાં તેને ઉતાર્યો. તેઓએ તેને દોરડા વડે નીચે ઉતાર્યો. ધાતુના ટાંકામાં પાણી નહોતું, પણ ફકત કાદવ હતો અને યમિર્યા એ કાદવમાં ખૂંપી ગયો.

છતાં તું કેવળ એટલું જ કહેજે કે, યહોનાથાનના ઘરમાં આવેલી કેદમાં મને પાછો મોકલે નહિ, હું ત્યાં મરી જઇશ, તેવી વિનંતી મેં રાજાને કરી હતી.”

પણ પાઉલના ભાણિયાએ આ યોજના વિષે સાંભળ્યું. તે લશ્કરના બંગલામાં ગયો અને પાઉલને તે યોજના વિષે કહ્યું.

તે રોમનોએ મને ઘણા પ્રશ્રો પૂછયા. પરંતુ તેઓએ કયા કારણે મને મરણદંડ માટે યોગ્ય ગણવા તે માટે તેઓ કોઇ કારણ શોધી શક્યા નથી. તેથી તેઓ મને મુક્ત કરી દેવા ઇચ્છતા હતા.
