સવારે તે આ સ્વપ્નો વિષે ચિંતીત હતો. તેણે મિસરના બધા જયોતિષીઓને તથા શાણા પુરુષોને નિમંત્રણ મોકલ્યા. જ્યારે તેઓ આવ્યા, ફારુને તેમને પોતાના સ્વપ્નો કહ્યાં; પરંતુ તેઓમાંથી કોઈ પણ તેનો અર્થ કહી શકયો નહિ.
દારિયેલ 2:1
રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સારને પોતાના રાજ્યકાળના બીજા વર્ષ દરમ્યાન એક ભયાનક સ્વપ્ન આવ્યું; તે ભયથી ધ્રુજી ગયો, તેની ઊંઘ હરામ થઇ ગઇ.

એક રાત્રે હું મારા પલંગમાં સૂતો હતો, એવામાં મને ભયંકર સ્વપ્ન આવ્યું. ત્યારે મારા મગજમાં પસાર થતાં આકારો અને સંદર્શનોએ મને ગભરાવી દીધો.

તે ભયથી તેનો ચહેરો ફિક્કો પડી ગયો અને તેનાં ગાત્રો શિથિલ થઇ ગયાં, અને તેના ઢીંચણ એકબીજા સાથે અથડાવા લાગ્યાં.

“અહીં એ સંદર્શનના વર્ણનનો અંત આવે છે. હું, દાનિયેલ, આ બધા વિચારોથી ખૂબ ફિક્કો અને ભયભીત થઇ ગયો. પણ મેં જે જોયું હતું, તે મેં કોઇને પણ કહ્યું નહિ, હૃદયમાં જ સંઘરી રાખ્યું.”

પછી હું દાનિયેલ, આ સાંભળીને મૂછિર્ત થઇ ગયો અને ઘણા દિવસો બીમાર રહ્યો. ત્યારબાદ હું સાજો થયો અને રાજા પ્રત્યેની મારી ફરજો બજાવવા લાગ્યો; પરંતુ એ સંદર્શનથી હું અચંબો પામ્યો, અને હું તે સંદર્શન સમજી શકતો ન હતો.
