આ હુકમ રાજા અહાશ્વેરોશના બધાજ પ્રાંતોમાં એક જ દિવસે એટલે કે બારમા અર્થાત અદાર મહિનાના, તેરમા દિવસે અમલમાં આવવાનો હતો.

હવે બારમા, એટલે કે અદાર મહિનાના, તેરમા દિવસે રાજાનો હુકમ અમલમાં આવવાનો હતો, એ દિવસે યહૂદીઓના દુશ્મનોએ તેમને કચડી નાખવાની આશા રાખી હતી. પણ બન્યુ તેનાથી ઊલટું જ; યહૂદીઓએ દુશ્મનોને કચડી નાખ્યા.
