પાટનગર સૂસામાં એક યહૂદી રહેતો હતો. તેનું નામ મોર્દખાય હતું. તે બિન્યામીન ટુકળીના, કીશના પુત્ર શિમઇના પુત્ર યાઇરનો પુત્ર હતો.

રાજા અહાશ્વેરોશ પાટનગર સૂસામાં તેના સિંહાસન પર મહેલમાંથી રાજ્ય કરતો હતો.
એસ્તેર 2:3
ભલે રાજા દરેક પ્રાંતમાં આ કામને માટે લોકોને નીમે. તેઓ જુવાન સૌદર્યવાન કુમારિકાઓને પસંદ કરીને પાટનગર સૂસાના મહેલના જનાનખાનામાં લઇ આવે. જનાનખાના પર નીમેલા રાજાના ખોજા હેગેની સંભાળ નીચે તેઓ રહે. આ કુમારિકાઓને સૌંદર્યના દ્રવ્યો હેગે પુરા પાડશેે.
એસ્તેર 3:2
અને રાજાની આજ્ઞાથી રાજાના બધા સેવકો રાજાના દરવાજે હામાનને નીચા નમીને પ્રણામ કરવા લાગ્યા; પરંતુ મોર્દખાયે તેમ કર્યુ નહિ અને માન આપવાની ના પાડી.
એસ્તેર 5:1
ત્રીજા દિવસે એસ્તેર રાણીનો પોષાક પહેરીને રાજાના ખંડની સામે મહેલની અંદરના પ્રવેશમાં જઇને ઊભી રહી. એ વખતે રાજા રાજમહેલના પ્રવેશદ્વાર આગળ સિંહાસન પર બિરાજેલ હતા.
એસ્તેર 10:3
યહૂદી મોર્દખાયનો દરજ્જો રાજા પછીનો હતો. યહૂદીઓમાં તે આદર પાત્ર બન્યો અને ઘણો લોકપ્રિય હતો. કારણ કે તેણે પોતાના લોકોના ભલા માટે પરિશ્રમ કર્યો અને તેમની કાળજી રાખી. તેણે બધાં યહૂદીઓ માટે શાંતિ લાવી હતી.
