આખરે પ્રબોધકોએ જે ભવિષ્યકથન કર્યું હતું તે બધું જ બન્યું. એટલે સુધી કે યહોવાએ તેઓને પોતાની નજર આગળથી દૂર કર્યા. ઇસ્રાએલીઓને તેમનું વતન છોડવું પડ્યું અને તેમને આશ્શૂર જવા માટે વિદાય કરવામાં આવ્યા, અને આજે પણ તેઓ ત્યાં જ છે.

હોશિયાના શાસનના 9મે વરસે આશ્શૂરનો રાજા સમરૂન કબજે કરવામાં સફળ થયો અને તે આશ્શૂરમાં ઇસ્રાએલીઓને લઇ આવ્યો. તેણે તેમને હલાહ શહેરમાં, ગોઝાનની નદી, હાબોર નદીને પાસે અને માદીઓના નગરમાં વસાવ્યા.
