“જો દેશમાં દુકાળ પડે કે મરકી ફાટી નીકળે, પાક લૂથી બળી જાય, કે મસી આવે, તીડ કે કાતરા પડે; એ લોકોના કોઈ દુશ્મનો એમના કોઈ શહેરને ઘેરો ઘાલે કે કોઈ આફત ઊતરે કે, રોગચાળો ફાટી નીકળે.

શહેરમાં લોકો ભારે ભૂખમરો વેઠતા હતા. દુકાળ એટલો લાંબો ચાલ્યો હતો કે ગધેડાનું 1 માંથું ચાંદીના 80 સિક્કામાં વેચાતું હતું. પા કિલો “કબૂતરની અઘારના”5 ચાંદીના સિક્કા વચાંવી હતી.

“તમાંરા દેવ યહોવા તમને જે ભૂમિ આપે છે તેમાંના બધાં નગરોને તેઓ ઘેરો ઘાલશે અને અંતે જે કોટો પર તમે સુરક્ષા માંટે આધાર રાખો છો, તે ઊંચા અને અભેધ કોટોને ભોંયભેંગા કરી નાખશે.

“યહોવા તમાંરા દુશ્મનોથી તમાંરો પરાજય કરાવડાવશે. તમે એક દિશામાંથી તેમના ઉપર હુમલો કરશો પરંતુ તમે તેમનાથી સાત જુદી દિશાઓમાં ભારે ગુંચવાઇને ભાગી જશો. સમગ્ર પૃથ્વીનાં રાજયો તમાંરી દશા જોઈને ભયભીત થઇ જશે.

માંરા કરાર ભંગનો બદલો લેવા હું તમાંરા ઉપર યુદ્ધ મોકલીશ. તમે તમાંરાં નગરોમાં અદૃશ્ય થઈ જશો તો હું ત્યાં તમાંરી મધ્યે મરકી મોકલીશ; તમાંરે તમાંરા શત્રુઓને શરણે જવું પડશે.
