ઇસ્રાએલના રાજા પેકાહના શાસન દરમ્યાન આશ્શૂરનો રાજા તિગ્લાથે-પિલેસેરથી ચઢી આવીને ઇયોન, આબેલ બેથ-માઅખાહ, યાનોઆહ, કેદેશ, હાસોર, ગિલયાદ તેમ જ ગાલીલ અને નફતાલીના બધા પ્રદેશને સર કરી લીધાં અને ત્યાંના લોકોને આશ્શૂરમાં બંદી બનાવીને લઇ ગયો.

પછી આહાઝે આશ્શૂરના રાજા તિગ્લાથ પિલેસેરને સંદેશવાહકો મોકલીને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, “હું તથા આપના પુત્ર બરાબર છીએ. અને આપનો સેવક છું, આવો, અને ઇસ્રાએલના રાજાઓ અને અરામીઓ સામે લડવામાં મારી મદદ કરો.”

આશ્શૂરનો રાજા તિલ્ગાથ-પિલ્નેસેર આવ્યો ખરો પણ તેને મદદ કરવાને બદલે તેણે તેને ઘેરો ઘાલ્યો.
