Deuteronomy 22:19
તથા ઇસ્રાએલની એક કન્યાની બદનામી કરવા બદલ તેનો 100 તોલા ચાંદીનો દંડ કરે. અને તેણે તે રકમ કન્યાના પિતાને આપવી. અને તે સ્ત્રી પેલા પુરુષની પત્ની તરીકે ચાલુ રહે. અને તે પુરુષ તે સ્ત્રીને કદી છૂટાછેડા આપી શકે નહિ.

તો તે પુરુષે તે કન્યા સાથે લગ્ન કરવાં અને દંડ તરીકે કન્યાના પિતાને 50 તોલા ચાંદી આપે. તે છોકરી તેની પત્ની થશે. વળી તેણે બળજબરીથી તે કન્યા જોડે વ્યભિચાર કર્યો છે માંટે તે કદી તેને છૂટાછેડા આપે નહિ.

ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મૂસાએ તમને તમારી પત્નીઓને છૂટાછેડા આપવાની છૂટ આપી છે કારણ તમે દેવનો ઉપદેશ સ્વીકારવા તૈયાર ન હતા. હકીકતમાં શરુંઆતમાં છૂટાછેડાની છૂટ આપી જ નહોતી.
Deuteronomy 24:1
“જો કોઈ પુરુષ સ્ત્રીને પરણ્યો હોય, અને તેની સાથે થોડા સમય સંસાર માંડયા બાદ તેનામાં કંઈં શરમજનક હોવાને કારણે તેને તે પસંદ ના હોય તો તેને છૂટાછેડા લખી આપી ઘરમાંથી કાઢી મૂકી શકે.
