Daniel 7
1 બાબિલના રાજા બેલ્શાસ્સારના રાજ્યશાસનના પ્રથમ વર્ષ દરમ્યાન દાનિયેલ સૂતો હતો ત્યારે, એક રાત્રે તેને સ્વપ્ન આવ્યું અને તેણે મનચક્ષુથી અનેક સંદર્શનો જોયાં. પછી તેણે તે સ્વપ્ન લખી નાખ્યું. તેણે જે જોયું તે આ પ્રમાણે છે:
2 રાત્રે મને થયેલાં સંદર્શનમાં મેં જોયું તો, સ્વર્ગના ચાર પવનો મોટા સમુદ્રને (ભૂમધ્ય સમુદ્રને) હલાવી રહ્યાં હતાં.
3 ત્યારબાદ એકબીજાથી જુદાં ચાર મોટાં મોટાં પ્રાણીઓ સમુદ્રમાંથી બહાર નીકળ્યાં.
4 “પહેલું પ્રાણી સિંહ જેવું હતું, પણ તેને ગરૂડ જેવી પાંખો હતી, અને હું જોતો હતો કે, તેની પાંખો ખેંચી લેવામાં આવી જેથી તે ઊડી શકે નહિ. તેને બે પગ ઉપર માણસની જેમ જમીન પર ઊભું રાખવામાં આવ્યું. અને તેને મનુષ્યનું હૃદય આપવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
5 “બીજું પ્રાણી રીંછ જેવું દેખાતું હતું. તે પંજો ઉપાડીને ત્રાટકવાની તૈયારી સાથે ઊભુ હતું. તેના દાંતોની વચ્ચે પણ ત્રણ પાંસળીઓ હતી. તેને કહેવામાં આવ્યું, ‘ઊભો થા! ઘણાં માંસનો ભક્ષ કર!’
6 “આ વિચિત્ર પ્રાણીઓમાંનું ત્રીજું ચિત્તા જેવું પ્રાણી નજરે પડ્યું. તેની પીઠ પર પંખીના જેવી ચાર પાંખો હતી, તેને ચાર માથાઁ હતાં અને તેને શાસનની સત્તા સોંપવામાં આવી.
7 “પછી રાત્રે મેં મારા સંદર્શનમાં એક ચોથું પ્રાણી જોયું. તેનું વર્ણન થઇ ન શકે તેવું ભયાનક અને મજબૂત તે હતું. તે તેના શિકારને લોખંડના મોટા દાંત વડે ચીરીને ખાતું હતું. અને બીજાઓને પોતાના પગ નીચે કચડી નાખતું હતું. બીજા બધા પ્રાણીઓ કરતાં તે ઘણું જ વધારે ક્રુર અને ઘાતકી હતું અને તેને દશ શિંગડાં હતાં.
8 “હું તેના શિંગડાં જોતો હતો તેવામાં, મેં એક નાના શિંગડાને એ શિંગડા વચ્ચે ફૂટી નીકળતું જોયું અને તેને માટે જગ્યા કરવાને પહેલાના ત્રણને મૂળમાંથી ઉખાડી નાખવામાં આવ્યાં એ શિંગડામાં માણસની આંખો જેવી આંખો હતી અને મોટી મોટી બડાઇ હાંકતું મુખ હતું.
9 “હું જોઇ રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે, ત્યાં સિંહાસનો ગોઠવાઇ ગયાં અને એક ખૂબ વૃદ્ધ માણસ તેના પર બેઠો હતો, તેના વસ્ત્રો હિમ જેવા સફેદ અને વાળ શુદ્ધ શ્વેત ઊન જેવા હતાં. તેનું સિંહાસન અગ્નિની જવાળાઓ જેવું હતું. અને તેના પૈડાં સળગતાં અગ્નિના હતાં.
10 “તેની આગળથી ધગધગતા અગ્નિનો ધોધ નીકળીને વહેતો હતો. હજારો તેની સેવા કરતા હતા અને કરોડો તેની સેવામાં ઉભા હતા. ન્યાયસભા ભરાઇ અને પુસ્તકો ખોલવામાં આવ્યાઁ.
11 “પેલું શિંગડું બડાઇની વાતો કરતું હતું. હું જોઇ રહ્યો હતો, એટલામાં એ પ્રાણીને મારી નાખવામા આવ્યું. તેના શરીરનો નાશ કરી સળગતા અગ્નિમાઁ નાખી દેવામાં આવ્યું.
12 બીજા પ્રાણીઓ પાસેથી શાસનની સત્તા લઇ લેવામાં આવી, પણ એમને અમુક સમય સુધી જીવતા રહેવા દેવામાં આવ્યાં.
13 “હજી રાતના હું સંદર્શનમાં જોતો હતો. મનુષ્યપુત્ર જેવા એક પુરુષને આકાશના વાદળો સાથે ત્યાં આવતા મેં જોયા. તે વયોવૃદ્ધ પુરુષની નજીક ગયા અને તેમની સમક્ષ હાજર થયાં.
14 “તેને શાસનની સત્તા, ગૌરવ અને રાજ્યાધિકાર સોંપવામાં આવ્યાં, જેથી બધી ભાષાના અને દેશોના લોકો તેનું આધિપત્ય સ્વીકારે. તેની શાસનની સત્તા શાશ્વત છે, તે કદી લોપ ન પામે; તેમ તેનો રાજ્યાધિકાર એવો છે જે કદી નાશ ન પામે.
15 “હું દાનિયેલ, મેં જે જોયું તેનાથી મૂંઝવણમાં પડી ગયો અને ખૂબ વ્યાકુળ બની ગયો, તેનાથી હું ભયભીત થઇ ગયો.
16 એટલે મેં ત્યાં જેઓ ઊભા રહ્યાં હતા, તેઓમાંના એકની પાસે જઇને તેને પૂછયું કે, ‘આ બધાનો અર્થ શું?’
17 તેણે મને એ બધી બાબતોનો અર્થ સમજાવતા કહ્યું: ‘આ ચાર વિશાળકાય પ્રાણીઓ ચાર રાજાઓ છે. તેઓ પૃથ્વી પર રાજ કરશે.
18 પણ તેઓ અંતે પરાત્પર દેવના સંતો સમગ્ર પૃથ્વી પર રાજ્ય મેળવશે અને સદા સર્વકાળ સુધી રાજ કરશે.’
19 “ત્યારપછી મેં ચોથા પ્રાણીનું રહસ્ય જાણવાની ઇચ્છા પ્રગટ કરી, જે બીજા બધા કરતાં જુદું હતું, જેને લોઢાના દાંત અને કાંસાના નહોર હતા, તેના હાથમાં જે આવે તેને તે ચીરી નાખતું અને ખાઇ જતું અને બાકી રહે તેને પગ તળે કચડી નાખતું હતું.
20 વળી મેં તેના માથા ઉપરના દશ શિંગડાં વિષે તેમજ જે બીજું શિંગડું ઊગી નીકળ્યું હતું, જેના આવવાથી ત્રણ શિંગડા પડી ગયા, જે શિંગડાને આંખો અને બડાશ મારતું મોઢું હતું અને જે બીજા શિંગડા કરતાં મોટું દેખાતું હતું, તેને વિષે પણ જાણવાની ઇચ્છા દર્શાવી.
21 હજી હું જોતો હતો, ત્યાં તો એ શિંગડું દેવના લોકોની વિરૂદ્ધ યુદ્ધ કરવા લાગ્યું. અને તેઓના ઉપર તેનો વિજય થતો જતો હતો.
22 અંતે પેલા ખૂબ વૃદ્ધ વ્યકિત આવ્યા અને પરાત્પર દેવના લોકોની તરફેણમાં ચુકાદો આપ્યો, અને સમય આવ્યો અને સંતોને રાજ્ય પ્રાપ્ત થયું.
23 “મને આ પ્રમાણે કહેવામાં આવ્યું, એ ચોથું પ્રાણી પૃથ્વી ઉપર ઉત્પન થનારું ચોથું રાજ્ય છે. એ બીજાં બધાં રાજ્યો કરતાં જુદું હશે. અને આખી પૃથ્વીને કોળીયો કરી જશે, તેને પગ તળે કચડશે અને છૂંદી નાખશે.
24 તેનાં દશ શિંગડાં દશ રાજાઓ છે, જે તેના રાજ્યમાંથી ઉત્પન્ન થશે. પછી પેલા દશ કરતાં વધારે ઘાતકી એવો એક રાજા ઊભો થશે અને તેઓમાંના ત્રણને પોતાને તાબે કરશે.
25 પછી તે પરાત્પર દેવની વિરૂદ્ધ બોલશે, અને પરાત્પરના પવિત્રોને હેરાન કરશે, અને ધામિર્ક ઉત્સવો દિવસોને અને નિયમોમાં ફેરફાર કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરશે. સંતોને એક વર્ષ માટે, બે વર્ષ માટે અને અડધા વર્ષ માટે તેના હાથમાં સોંપી દેવામાં આવશે.
26 “પરંતુ પછી ખૂબ વૃદ્ધ માણસ આવશે અને ન્યાય સભા મળશે અને આ અધમ રાજાની સર્વ સત્તાઓ તેની પાસેથી છીનવી લેવામાં આવશે. અને અંતે તેનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ થશે.
27 આકાશ નીચેના બધાં રાજ્યોનો રાજ્યાધિકાર, શાસનની સત્તા, અને વૈભવ, પરાત્પરના પવિત્રોની પ્રજાને સોંપવામાં આવશે અને તેમનો રાજ્યાધિકાર કાયમી રાજ્યાધિકાર હશે અને બધાં જ રાજ્યો તેમનું આધિપત્ય સ્વીકારશે અને તેમની આજ્ઞામાં રહેશે.”
28 “અહીં એ સંદર્શનના વર્ણનનો અંત આવે છે. હું, દાનિયેલ, આ બધા વિચારોથી ખૂબ ફિક્કો અને ભયભીત થઇ ગયો. પણ મેં જે જોયું હતું, તે મેં કોઇને પણ કહ્યું નહિ, હૃદયમાં જ સંઘરી રાખ્યું.”
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the Lord hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
7 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me that he shall surely die.
11 And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.
15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
20 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
23 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24 And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the Lord, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.
28 And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.
29 And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
