Jeremiah 32:24
“શત્રુએ નગરનાં સામે મજબૂત મોરચાઓ બાંધ્યા છે. બાબિલનું સૈન્ય તરવાર વડે તથા નગરમાં પ્રવર્તતા દુકાળ અને મરકીને કારણે નગરને જીતી લેશે. તમે કહ્યું હતું અને તમે નક્કી કર્યું હતું તે જ પ્રમાણે બની રહ્યું છે, તમે તમારી જાતે જોઇ શકો છો.

“તેઓ ભયંકર રોગોને લીધે મૃત્યુ પામશે, કોઇ તેઓને માટે ચિંતા કરશે નહિ કે તેઓને દફનાવશે નહિ, પરંતુ તેઓના મૃતદેહો ખુલ્લા મેદાનમાં પડ્યા રહેશે અને ભોંય પર સડી જઇ ખાતરરૂપ થશે. તેઓ યુદ્ધ કે દુકાળમાં મૃત્યુ પામશે અને તેઓના મૃતદેહોને પંખીઓ અને પશુઓ ફાડી ખાશે.”

હું તેમના પર તરવાર, ભૂખમરો અને રોગચાળો મોકલીશ. તેઓ જ્યાં સુધી નષ્ટ ન થઇ જાય ત્યાં સુધી હું તેમના પર ત્રાટકીશ પછી તેઓનું અસ્તિત્વ ભૂમિ પરથી મટી જશે જે મેં તેમને અને તેમના પિતૃઓને આપી હતી.”

“‘અને છતાં, સૈન્યોનો દેવ યહોવા મારા પ્રભુ, તેં મને આજ્ઞા કરી કે, સાક્ષીઓના દેખતાં પૈસા ચૂકવીને ખેતર ખરીદી લે; જો કે શહેર તો અત્યારે બાબિલ વાસીઓના હાથમાં જઇ રહ્યું છે.”

ચોથા મહિનાના નવમે દિવસે નગરમાં અન્નની ભારે તંગી વર્તાતી હતી અને લોકોને ખાવાનું મળતું નહોતું.
Deuteronomy 31:16
યહોવાએ મૂસાને કહ્યું, “તારા પિતૃઓની જેમ તું પણ હવે મરવાની અણી પર છે. આ લોકો જે દેશમાં જઈ રહ્યા છે તેમાં જઈ વિદેશીઓ ભેગા રહેશે એટલે માંરા પ્રત્યેની ભકિતથી ચલિત થઈને તેઓ તે લોકોના દેવોની પૂજા કરવા માંડશે, મને છોડી દેશે અને મેં તેમની સાથે કરેલા કરારનો તેઓ ભંગ કરશે.
