તેથી રાજા દાઉદે ગિબયોનના લોકોને બોલાવ્યા, તેઓ ઇસ્રાએલીઓના પુત્રો નહોતાં પણ તેઓ ત્યાં રહેતા બીજા અમોરીઓના પુત્રો હતાં. ઇસ્રાએલપુત્રોએ તેઓનો નાશ નહિ કરવા માંટે પ્રતિજ્ઞા લીધી હતી, પણ શાઉલને ઇસ્રાએલ અને યહૂદા માંટે ઊંડી લાગણી હતી તેથી તેણે તેઓનો વિનાશ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર્યો હતો.
