પણ રાજકુમારોની હત્યા ચાલતી હતી ત્યાં અહાઝયાની બહેન અને રાજા યોરામની પુત્રી યહોશેબાએ અહાઝયાના પુત્ર યોઆશને અને તેની દાસીને લઇ જઇને શયનખંડમાં પૂરી દીધાં આમ, તેણે તેને અથાલ્યાથી છુપાવી દીધો અને તેનો વધ થતો રહી ગયો,

જ્ઞાની માણસોના ગયા પછી, યૂસફને સ્વપ્નમાં પ્રભુનો દૂત દેખાયો. દૂતે કહ્યું કે, “ઊભો થા! બાળક અને તેની માને લઈને મિસરમા નાસી જા. હેરોદ બાળકની તપાસ શરૂ કરશે. તે તેને મારી નાખવા માગે છે. હું જ્યાં સુધી કહું કે બધું સલામત નથી, ત્યાં સુધી મિસરમાં જ રહેજે.”
