નથાનએલનો પુત્ર, લેવી કુલસમૂહનો શમાયા, નોંધણીકાર હતો. આ બધું કામ તે રાજા તથા સાદોક યાજક, અબ્યાથારના પુત્ર અહીમેલેખ તથા યાજકો અને લેવીઓના મુખ્ય આગેવાનોની હાજરીમાં તે કરતો હતો. એલઆઝારના કુંળકુટુંબોએ અને ઇથામારના કુલ કુટુંબોએ ફરજોને વહેંચી લીધી હતી.
