1 Samuel 18:5
શાઉલે દાઉદને ઘણા યુદ્ધો લડવા મોકલ્યો, દાઉદે ખૂબ સફળતા મેળવી, તેથી શાઉલે તેને સૈન્યમાં ઊંચી પદવી આપી, તેને યોદ્ધાઓની દેખરેખનું કામ આપ્યું. શાઉલના માંણસોને અને બધાં લોકોને પણ આ ગમ્યું.

તેણે ઇસ્રાએલમાંથી 3,000 સૈનિકોની ભરતી કરી. તેમાંના 2,000 પોતાની સાથે બેથેલ પહાડી દેશમાં મિખ્માંશમાં રાખ્યા. જયારે બાકીના હજારનું સૈન્ય શાઉલનો પુત્ર યોનાથાનની સાથે બિન્યામીનના પ્રદેશના ગિબયાહમાં રાખ્યું. બાકીના સૈનિકોને શાઉલે પોતપોતાને ઘેર મોકલી દીધા.
Genesis 39:23
