Take the rod, and gather you the assembly together, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak all of you unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock: so you shall give the congregation and their beasts drink.

நீ கோலை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, நீயும் உன்னுடைய சகோதரனாகிய ஆரோனும் சபையாரைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து, அவர்கள் கண்களுக்குமுன்னே கன்மலையைப் பார்த்துப் பேசுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது அது தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தண்ணீரைக் கொடுக்கும்; இப்படி நீ அவர்களுக்குக் கன்மலையிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் புறப்படச்செய்து, சபையாருக்கும் அவர்களுடைய மிருகங்களுக்கும் குடிக்கக் கொடுப்பாய் என்றார்.

அவர், “சிறப்புக்குரிய உன் கைத் தடியை எடுத்துக்கொள். உனது சகோதரன் ஆரோனையும் ஜனங்கள் கூட்டத்தையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு பாறையின்மீது போ. ஜனங்கள் முன்னால் பாறையோடு பேசு. பிறகு பாறையிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் சுரந்து வரும். அந்த தண்ணீரை நீ ஜனங்களுக்கும் மிருகங்களுக்கும் தரலாம்” என்றார்.
