O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent unto you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and all of you would not!

“எருசலேமே! எருசலேமே! நீ தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொல்கின்றாய். தேவன் உன்னிடம் அனுப்பியவர்களைக் கற்களால் அடித்துக் கொல்கிறாய். பற்பலமுறை உன் மக்களுக்கு உதவ நான் விரும்பினேன். ஒரு (தாய்க்) கோழி தன் குஞ்சுகளைத் தன் இறக்கைகளுக்குக் கீழே சேர்த்துக் கொள்வதைப்போல நானும் உன் மக்களை ஒன்று சேர்க்க நினைத்தேன். ஆனால், நீயோ அதைச் செய்ய என்னை விடவில்லை.
