From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

அதுமுதல் இயேசு, தாம் எருசலேமுக்குப்போய், மூப்பர்களாலும் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களாலும், வேதபண்டிதர்களாலும் பல பாடுகள்பட்டு, கொலையுண்டு, மூன்றாம்நாளில் உயிரோடு எழுந்திருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதைத் தம்முடைய சீடர்களுக்குச் சொல்லத்தொடங்கினார்.

அப்பொழுதிலிருந்து இயேசு தம் சீஷர்களிடம் தாம் எருசலேம் செல்லவேண்டுமென சொல்லத் தொடங்கினார். மூத்த யூதத் தலைவர்களாலும், தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களாலும் நியாயப் பிரமாண போதகர்களாலும் தமக்குப் பல இன்னல்கள் வரப்போவதை இயேசு விளக்கினார். மேலும், தம் சீஷர்களிடம் தாம் கொல்லப்படவிருப்பதையும் இயேசு கூறினார். பின்னர், மூன்றாம் நாள் தாம் உயிர்த்தெழவிருப்பதையும் கூறினார்.
