You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.

விபசாரம் செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, களவு செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லாதிருப்பாயாக, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் கனம்பண்ணுவாயாக என்கிற கட்டளைகளை நீ தெரிந்திருக்கிறாயே என்றார்.

ஆனால் நான் உன் கேள்விக்குப் பதில் சொல்வேன். உனக்கு தேவனுடைய பிரமாணங்கள் தெரியும். ‘நீ தீய ஒழுக்கமாகிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யக்கூடாது. நீ ஒருவரையும் கொலை செய்யக்கூடாது. நீ எந்தப் பொருளையும் திருடக் கூடாது. பிறரைக் குறித்துப் பொய் சொல்லக் கூடாது. உனது தாயையும் தந்தையையும் மதிக்க வேண்டும்’” என்றார்.
