Lamentations 1:7
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.

தனக்குச் சிறுமையும் தவிப்பும் ஏற்பட்ட நாட்களிலே எருசலேம் ஆரம்பநாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு தனக்கு உண்டாயிருந்த இன்பமானவைகளையெல்லாம் நினைக்கிறாள்; அவளுக்கு உதவிசெய்பவர்கள் இல்லாமல் அவளுடைய மக்கள் விரோதிகளின் கையிலே விழும்போது, பகைவர்கள் அவளைப் பார்த்து, அவளுடைய ஓய்வு நாட்களைக் குறித்து ஏளனம் செய்தார்கள்.

எருசலேம் பின்னோக்கி நினைத்துப் பார்க்கிறாள். எருசலேம் தான் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு தன் வீடுகளை இழந்த காலத்தை நினைக்கிறாள். அவள் கடந்த காலத்தில் தான் பெற்றிருந்த இனிய காரியங்களை எண்ணிப் பார்க்கிறாள். அவள் பழைய நாட்களில் பெற்ற சிறந்தவற்றை நினைத்துப் பார்க்கிறாள். அவள் தனது ஜனங்கள் எதிரிகளால் சிறை பிடிக்கப்பட்டதை எண்ணிப் பார்க்கிறாள். அவள் தனக்கு உதவ எவரும் இல்லாத நிலையை எண்ணுகிறாள். அவளை அவளது பகைவர்கள் பார்க்கும்போது சிரித்தார்கள். ஏனென்றால், அவள் அழிக்கப்பட்டாள்.

தனக்குச் சிறுமையும் தவிப்பும் உண்டாகிய நாட்களிலே எருசலேம் பூர்வநாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு தனக்கு உண்டாயிருந்த இன்பமானவைகளையெல்லாம் நினைக்கிறாள்; அவளுக்கு உதவிசெய்வார் இல்லாமல் அவளுடைய ஜனங்கள் சத்துருவின் கையிலே விழுகையில், பகைஞர் அவளைப் பார்த்து, அவளுடைய ஓய்வுநாட்களைக் குறித்துப் பரியாசம்பண்ணினார்கள்.
