Judges 18:14
Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do all of you know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what all of you have to do.

அப்பொழுது லாயீசின் நாட்டை உளவுபார்க்கப் போய்வந்த ஐந்து மனிதர்கள் தங்கள் சகோதரர்களைப் பார்த்து: இந்த வீடுகளில் ஏபோத்தும் சுரூபங்களும் வெட்டப்பட்ட விக்கிரகமும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகமும் இருக்கிறது என்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியுமா; இப்போதும் நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டியதைத் தீர்மானித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

லாயீசைச் சுற்றிப் பார்த்துவந்த 5 பேரும்தம் உறவினர்களிடம், “இந்த வீடுகளுள் ஒன்றில் ஒரு ஏபோத் உள்ளது. மேலும் வீட்டிற்குரிய தெய்வங்களும், ஒரு செதுக்கப்பட்ட சிலையும், ஒரு வெள்ளி விக்கிரகமும் இங்கு உள்ளன. உங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்வதெனத் தெரியும். சென்று அவற்றை எடுத்து வாருங்கள்” என்றனர்.
