யூதத் தலைவர்கள் அதே கேள்வியை இயேசுவிடம் தொடர்ந்து கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். ஆகையால் இயேசு எழுந்து நின்று, “பாவமே செய்யாதவன் எவனாவது இங்கே இருக்கிறானா? இருந்தால் பாவம் செய்யாத அந்த மனிதன் இவள் மீது முதல் கல்லை எறியட்டும்” என்றார்.
