Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you says, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள் அவரைப் பார்த்து: நீ பிசாசு பிடித்தவன் என்று இப்பொழுது அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்; ஆபிரகாமும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் மரித்தார்கள். நீயோ: ஒருவன், என் வார்த்தையைக் கடைபிடித்தால் என்றென்றைக்கும் மரணத்தை ருசிபார்ப்பதில்லை என்கிறாய்.

யூதர்களோ இயேசுவிடம், “உனக்குப் பிசாசு பிடித்திருக்கிறது என்பது இப்பொழுது உறுதியாயிற்று. ஆபிரகாமும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும்கூட இறந்துபோய்விட்டார்கள். ஆனால் நீயோ, ‘என் உபதேசத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவன் ஒருபோதும் இறந்துபோவதில்லை’ என்று கூறுகிறாய்.
