யோகனானும் மற்றப் படை அதிகாரிகளும் கல்தேயர்களுக்கு பயந்தனர். பாபிலோனின் அரசன் கெதலியாவை யூதாவின் ஆளுநராகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருந்தான். ஆனால் இஸ்மவேல் கெதலியாவைக் கொலை செய்துவிட்டான். யோகனான், கல்தேயர்கள் கோபமாக இருப்பார்கள் என்று அஞ்சினான். எனவே அவர்கள் எகிப்துக்கு ஓடிப்போக முடிவு செய்தனர். எகிப்துக்குப் போகும் வழியில் அவர்கள் கெருத்கிம்காமினில் தங்கினார்கள். கெருத்கிம்காமின் பெத்லேகம் நகருக்கு அருகில் இருக்கிறது.

❮17-18❯அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் புறப்பட்டு, பெத்லெகேமுக்கு அருகே இருந்த கேருத்கிம்காமினில் தங்கினார்கள். பாபிலோனிய மன்னன் நாட்டின் ஆளுநராக ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்த அகிக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவை நெத்தனியாவின் மகன் இஸ்மயேல் கொன்று போட்ட காரணத்தினால், அவர்கள் கல்தேயருக்கு அஞ்சி அவர்களிடம் இருந்து தப்பிக்கும்படி எகிப்துக்குப் போக எண்ணியிருந்தார்கள்.
