Jeremiah 38:4
Therefore the princes said unto the king, We plead to you, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

அப்பொழுது பிரபுக்கள் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: இந்த மனிதன் கொல்லப்பட அனுமதிக்கவேண்டும்; அதேனென்றால், இந்த நகரத்தில் மீதியாயிருக்கிற போர்வீரர்களிடத்திலும், மற்றுமுள்ள எல்லா மக்களிடத்திலும், இவன் இப்படிப்பட்ட வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லுகிறதினால் அவர்களுடைய கைகளைத் தளர்ந்து போகச்செய்கிறான்; இவன் இந்த மக்களின் நலனைத் தேடாமல், அவர்கள் கேட்டையே தேடுகிறான் என்றார்கள்.

பிறகு அந்த அரச அதிகாரிகள் ஜனங்களுக்கு எரேமியா சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருந்ததைக் கேட்டு விட்டு சிதேக்கியா அரசனிடம் சென்றனர். அவர்கள் அரசனிடம், “எரேமியா சாகடிக்கப்பட வேண்டும். இந்த நகரத்தில் இன்னும் இருக்கிற வீரர்களை அவன் அதைரியப்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான். எரேமியா தான் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருப்பவற்றால் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் அதைரியப்படுத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான். எரேமியா நமக்கு நன்மை நிகழ்வதை விரும்பவில்லை. அவன் எருசலேம் ஜனங்களை அழித்து விட விரும்புகிறான்” என்றனர்.
