Jeremiah 2:11
Has a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

எந்த மக்களாவது தெய்வங்களல்லாத தங்கள் தெய்வங்களை மாற்றினது உண்டோ என்றும் பாருங்கள்; என் மக்களோ வீணானவைகளுக்காகத் தங்கள் மகிமையை மாற்றினார்கள்.

எந்த நாட்டவர்களாவது எப்போதாவது புதிய தெய்வங்களை தொழுதுகொள்ள தங்கள் பழைய தெய்வங்களைத் தொழுதுகொள்வதை நிறுத்தினார்களா? அவர்களின் தெய்வங்கள், தெய்வங்களே அல்ல! ஆனால், என் ஜனங்கள், தங்கள் மகிமைமிக்க தேவனை ஆராதிப்பதைவிட்டு, எதற்கும் பயனற்ற விக்கிரகங்களைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.
