So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, You are my Son, to day have I begotten you.

அப்படியே கிறிஸ்துவும் பிரதான ஆசாரியராகிறதற்குத் தம்மைத்தாமே உயர்த்தவில்லை; நீர் என்னுடைய நேசகுமாரன், இன்று நான் உம் தகப்பனானேன் என்று அவரோடு சொன்னவரே அவரை உயர்த்தினார்.

கிறிஸ்துவின் செயலும் அப்படித்தான். பிரதான ஆசாரியன் ஆகும் பெருமைக்கு அவர் தன்னைத்தானே தேர்ந்தெடுக்கவில்லை. தேவன் அவரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். அவர் கிறிஸ்துவிடம், “நீர் எனது மகன். இன்று நான் உமக்குப் பிதா ஆனேன்” என்று கூறினார்.
