தேவன் ஆபிரகாமின் விசுவாசத்தை சோதித்தார். ஆபிரகாமிடம் ஈசாக்கைப் பலி கொடுக்கும்படி தேவன் சொன்னார். ஆபிரகாமும் விசுவாசத்தின் காரணமாக அந்தக் கட்டளையைப் பின்பற்றினான், ஏனென்றால் ஏற்கெனவே தேவன் ஆபிரகாமுக்கு வாக்களித்துள்ளார். “ஈசாக்கு மூலம் உன் பரம்பரை வளரும்” என்றும் கூறியுள்ளார். ஆனாலும் ஒரே மகனான அந்த ஈசாக்கைப் பலிகொடுக்க ஆபிரகாம் முன் வந்தான்.
