All of you looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when all of you brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? says the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and all of you run every man unto his own house.

அதிகமாக வருமென்று நீங்கள் எதிர்பார்த்திருந்தும், இதோ, கொஞ்சம் கிடைத்தது; நீங்கள் அறுத்து வீட்டுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்தும், நான் அதை ஊதிப்போடுகிறேன்; எதினாலென்றால், என் வீடு பாழாய்க் கிடக்கும்போது, நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் அவனவன் தன்தன் வீட்டிற்கு ஓடிப்போகிறீர்களே, இதனாலே என்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார்: “ஜனங்களாகிய நீங்கள் பெரும் அறுவடையை எதிர்பார்த்திருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் அறுவடைப் பொருட்களை எடுக்கப் போகும்போது அங்கே கொஞ்சம்தான் தானியம் இருக்கிறது. எனவே அந்தத் தானியத்தை வீட்டிற்குக் கொண்டுவருகிறீர்கள். பிறகு நான் காற்றை அனுப்புகிறேன். அதனை அது அடித்துச்செல்லும். ஏன் இவை நிகழுகின்றன. ஏனென்றால் நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் அவரவர் வீட்டை கவனித்துக்கொள்ள ஓடிப்போகும்போது எனது வீடு இன்னும் அழிந்த நிலையில் உள்ளது.
