For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

வழியிலே எதிரியை விலக்கி, எங்களுக்குத் துணைசெய்யும்படி, நான் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் சேவகரையும் குதிரைவீரர்களையும் கேட்க வெட்கப்பட்டிருந்தேன்; எங்கள் தேவனுடைய கரம் தம்மைத் தேடுகிற எல்லோர்மேலும் அவர்களுக்கு நன்மையாக இருக்கிறதென்றும், அவருடைய வல்லமையும் அவருடைய கோபமும் அவரைவிட்டு விலகுகிறவர்கள் எல்லோர்மேலும் இருக்கிறதென்றும், நாங்கள் ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தோம்.

நாங்கள் பயணம் செய்யும்போது எங்கள் பாதுகாப்புக்காக சேவகர்களையும், குதிரை வீரர்களையும் அனுப்பும்படி அரசனான அர்தசஷ்டாவிடம் கேட்க வெட்கப்பட்டேன். வழியில் பகைவர்கள் இருந்தனர். நான் வெட்கப்பட்டதற்கும் காரணம் இருந்தது. நாங்கள் அரசனிடம், “எங்கள் தேவன் அவரை நம்புகிற ஒவ்வொருவரிடமும் இருக்கிறார். ஆனால் தேவனைவிட்டு விலகுகிறவர்களிடம் அவர் மிக கோபமாக இருப்பார்” என்று சொன்னோம்.
