And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take your rod, and stretch out yours hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

மேலும், கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நீ ஆரோனிடம் உன்னுடைய கோலை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு எகிப்தின் நீர்நிலைகளாகிய அவர்கள் வாய்க்கால்கள்மேலும், நதிகள்மேலும், குளங்கள்மேலும், தண்ணீர் நிற்கிற எல்லா இடங்கள்மேலும், அவைகள் இரத்தமாகும்படி, உன்னுடைய கையை நீட்டு; அப்பொழுது எகிப்து தேசம் எங்கும் மரப்பாத்திரங்களிலும், கற்பாத்திரங்களிலும் இரத்தம் உண்டாகும் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “ஆரோனின் கையிலுள்ள கைத்தடியை நதிகள், கால்வாய்கள், ஏரிகள், தண்ணீர் தேங்கி நிற்கும் இடங்கள் அனைத்தின் மேலாகவும் நீட்டும்படியாக ஆரோனுக்குக் கூறு, அவன் அவ்வாறு செய்தவுடன் தண்ணீரெல்லாம் இரத்தமாகும். மரத்தாலும் கல்லாலுமாகிய ஜாடிகளில் நிரப்பியிருக்கும் தண்ணீர் உட்பட, எல்லா இடங்களிலுள்ள தண்ணீரும் இரத்தமாக மாறும்” என்றார்.
